About Me

This is me. My name is Lucy K. Marete and I am a farmer from Meru - Kenya. I have various pieces of land that I rent to grow different crops.
This month Im harvesting potatoes and the export quality bananas and pawpaws are getting ready.
The challenges that I face as a farmer is lack of market for my products.
I will be sharing pictures and information of farming practices, and life in our farming villages.

My dream is to find good export market for my products and also be able to open ways for other farmers like me to get good returns for their sweat in the farms.

Meru Kenya: Brief about Meru

Meru is found on the North Eastern slopes of Mt. Kenya. About 5 miles from the Equator and proximate altitude is 5,000 feet.

Meru is such a green place with mostly mixed forests, small towns and villages and mostly rural farms. Most people living in this area are Merus.

Meru produces crops such as coffee, tea, and export vegetables and fruits. Farmers here rear  cattle for dairy products goats and sheep.
Meru is also the home for miraa (khat)

I will be taking you on a journey through farms and farmers lives mostly focussing on women farmers in this area  and challenges that people here face. But, most beautiful of all is sharing our way of life in everyday farm works and hope you will take this journey with me.
